College Road Map Services

  • Initial consult is free - get to know student and parents/guardians to better assess student progress to date, evaluate transcript, academic and extracurricular history, test scores, community service, leadership, honors, awards and special talents. Identify gaps and opportunities in record.

  • No cap on time available for student/parents/guardians.

  • Assist in developing a personalized and student-specific college strategy using backwards mapping, including but not limited to course selection, GPA, standardized testing, extracurriculars, leadership, community service and awards/honors opportunities.

  • Give suggestions on how to organize student’s body of work.

  • Design a daily weekly, monthly and/or yearly college planning timeline.

  • Provide information on upcoming college fairs.

  • Regular parent/guardian updates via email.

  • Discuss with student/parents/guardians possible courses of study, majors and minors.

  • Guide student/parents/guardians through the college planning and admission process.

  • Discuss college goals vs. grades and current body of work.

  • Assist in development of preliminary matching college list by broadening the potential college choices by weighing factors such as cost, location, society and curriculum.

  • Assist in keeping student on task and adhering to deadlines.

  • Discuss financial and other college factors early in the process.

  • Assist in preparing student resumé.

  • Provide assistance in searching for scholarships.

  • Narrow down the preliminary college list and create a final list including reach, target, and safety colleges based on backwards mapping, matching and merit positioning.

  • Develop a list of colleges to visit and a list of questions to ask.

  • Support student through the college application process, including, but not limited to all applications, all essays, resumé, scholarships, etc, creating a timely and polished body of work in their application package.

  • Provide light editing for essays the way an English teacher would review it- acceptable and expected by college admissions.

  • Support student and parents/guardians through filing of FAFSA/CSS in a timely manner.

  • Assist student with reviewing acceptances and scholarships offers and discuss pros/cons of each college.

  • Assist student and parents/guardians in their final decision of college choice by weighing and comparing all acceptances and scholarships/grants.
